Where do I start my Online Research?
The best way to start your research is to be prepared!
Below are several online tutorials on how to get the most out of the UA Libraries Catalog and various databases. For tips on the research process, check out "Research Rules to Live By."
Before jumping right into your research, spend a few minutes planning your Search Strategy. This means having a well-defined Topic Statement, a Keyword Search String, and a list of Synonyms/Alternative Keywords.
This tutorial will review how to use your Topic Statement to create a Search Strategy using a Keyword Search String. This should be your first step before jumping into the Library Catalog or a database, as it will help you narrow your search and provide you for a consistent guide while searching different online resources.
Academic Search Complete
Learn how to locate articles within Academic Search Complete. This includes how to search, read the full results record, find out if an article is full text, and use the citation feature.
Catalog Tutorial (UA Library)
Learn how to search the UA LIbrary Catalog by keyword, author, and title. This tutorial included self assessment quizzes as well as a printable final quiz.
