Hint: many art databases will include articles about art in a political or historical context. Try a combined search for the name of your artist and the keywords "politics" or "political," or a combined search for the name of a particular artistic genre or movement and the keywords "politics" or "political."
Visual arts: painting, sculpture, photography
Citations and abstracts to international art, photography, design and architectural history publications, including museum catalogs. Try a search by artist's name, listing the last name first: "Siqueiros, David Alfaro" or "Tamayo, Rufino." If you're looking for information about a particular artistic movement or period, use the Thesaurus at the end of the page to find the correct subject heading for that movement. HINT: "Politics and Art" is a subject heading in this database.
ARTstor is a repository of hundreds of thousands of digital images and related data. While you will not find articles about your topic here, you will find images of the works of the artists or works produced within the genre you're searching.
While this database's focus is primarily British and American, it includes a broad international coverage of art, including photography, crafts, landscape architecture, design, folk art, art history, etc. Search options include a "Geographic Coverage Phrase" so you can search for articles about the art of a particular country or area; use this to limit your search to Latin America in general or a specific Latin American country.
PRISMA - Publicaciones y Revistas Sociales y HumanĂsticas
Full-text scholarly journals in the social sciences and humanities for the interdisciplinary academic study of Hispanic and Latin America and the Caribbean Basin. Articles are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Use the Subject List to find your artist's name or the name of a particular genre.

A broad range of historiographic, ethnographic and musicological subjects is covered as well as a number of topics associated with dance, such as ballet and modern dance. The Music Index offers the researcher access to a wealth of data on past and present personalities, the history of music, forms and types of music, musical instruments, computer produced music.

Use the "Subject Categories" option to narrow your search to a particular genre, or the "Subject Terms" option to narrow your search to a particular artist.
